چکیده
The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons has developed the Appropriate Use Criteria (AUC) document Management of Osteochondritis Dissecans of the Femoral Condyle. Evidence-based information, in conjunction with the clinical expertise of physicians, was used to develop the criteria to improve patient care and obtain the best outcomes while considering the subtleties and distinctions necessary in making clinical decisions. The AUC clinical patient scenarios were derived from patient indications that generally accompany osteochondritis dissecans of the femoral condyle, as well as from current evidence-based clinical practice guidelines and supporting literature. The 64 patient scenarios and 12 treatments were developed by the Writing Panel, a group of clinicians who are specialists in this AUC topic. Lastly, a separate, multidisciplinary Voting Panel (made up of specialists and nonspecialists) rated the appropriateness of treatment of each patient scenario using a 9-point scale to designate a treatment as Appropriate (median rating, 7 to 9), May Be Appropriate (median rating, 4 to 6), or Rarely Appropriate (median rating, 1 to 3).

Meniscoplasty for stable osteochondritis dissecans of the lateral femoral condyle combined with a discoid lateral meniscus: a case report
INTRODUCTION Osteochondritis dissecans of the lateral femoral condyle is relatively rare, and it is reported to often be combined with a discoid lateral meniscus. Given the potential for healing, conservative management is indicated for stable osteochondritis dissecans in patients who are skeletally immature. However, patients with osteochondritis dissecans of the lateral femoral condyle combin...
متن کاملAbnormal Femoral Origin of the Anterior Cruciate Ligament Associated with Osteochondritis Dissecans of the Medial Femoral Condyle
We report a case of abnormal meniscal-like anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), inserting at the 9 o’clock position just beside the cartilage of the lateral femoral condyle, in a stable knee associated with osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) of the medial femoral condyle.
متن کاملA case of osteochondritis dissecans of the lateral femoral condyle and patellofemoral joint surface occurring in the same knee
More than 70% of osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) lesions in the knee joint occur on the posterolateral surface of the medial femoral condyle, designated as the classic area. Approximately 15–20 % of OCD lesions in the knee joint occur in the inferior–central part of the lateral femoral condyle, and 1 % or less occur on the patellofemoral joint surface [1, 2]. We encountered a patient who simult...
متن کاملBilateral Osteochondritis Dissecans of the Femoral Condyles in Both Knees: A Report of Two Sibling Cases
Osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) of both femoral condyles is very rare, with no previously reported cases of bilateral OCD of both knees in two siblings. We report on a brother and sister with both femoral condyle OCD with a description of surgical technique and clinical results. Fixation using headless compressive screws, osteochondral autologous transplantation and autologous chondrocyte impla...
متن کاملOsteochondritis dissecans located on the medial tibial plateau: a case report
BACKGROUND Osteochondritis dissecans are typically located mainly on the femoral condyle, with reported but less common cases of patella involvement. In this case report, we reported a rare case of osteochondritis dissecans located on the medial tibial plateau. CASE PRESENTATION A 26-year-old Han Chinese woman presented with a lesion on her left medial tibial plateau. She was treated by arthr...
